I'm going to see The Avengers at midnight tonight, never mind that I have work tomorrow. When I return expect lots and lots of flailing and keyboard smashing. I will make sure to put everything behind a cut so no one who hasn't seen the movie will be spoiled.
The rest of you can flail around with me. I already have so many feels.
First, let me get this out of the way:
njiafneiwovmp eijwofjekfnskjCN EWIfgerkgn;ktrwvmriwMCDFJSkxdewkpj g tnh gfjkg nsJKDN J[fh [ f f j gkjlf k;lQ KJL TRJ AWJmp j;vmbj dhkn;l flek K'DGRK A;
Ah, that's better. These thoughts won't be terribly coherent right now as it's 3 am and I've been up since 6 am yesterday but I need to get them down and then I'll clean them up later.
First: The movie itself as a movie is fantastic. The writing was the best piece of Joss Whedon fanfiction ever. He can write all the Avengers, please and thank you. What really impressed me was the pacing on the film.
I remember sitting through the second Batman film thinking "Okay, now it's done" but it wasn't. I lost focus on the film, the plot and the characters because it just didn't have the right pacing. The Avengers was nothing like that. It didn't feel like a 2 hour movie. I was hooked from the intro on and never stopped loving each and every scene. I didn't want it to end.
Like I said, Joss's writing is excellent. His comedic timing was just the sort of stuff I loved from Firefly, Buffy and Serenity. It wasn't just Tony quips, or Steve one liners, the physical humor was fantastic. The story was good too. While it is the story of the Avengers, I really saw it as the story of Loki and Thor with the Earth getting between them. I don't know if that's just because I really love Loki or if that's what they were going for. Whatever, it was awesome.
Second: Steeeeeeeeeeeve! Steeeeeeeve! Wow that guy's suffering from some serious PTSD huh? That scene in the gym says he's not handling it very well. Isolation is not good for you Steve, but the moment he had a cause he gave it is all from day one. He expected a group of soldiers, he expected the Commandos, but what he got was a whole group of Captains and leaders and single units. It really came together for him when he let Tony lead for a bit. When the Avengers clicked for Tony and Steve, it clicked for everyone else. Most importantly it clicked for Steve.
I think it really started when he was in the lab with Bruce and Tony. That whole spy thing, the whole Fury sneaking behind their backs, he listened. In the hall you saw him struggle with it. He didn't want to listen at first. But he did and if it hadn't been for Loki's meddling perhaps they could have solidified as a team right then. But Loki's a twat and that didn't happen.
The point is, he talks the most in battle strategy. Yes, he argues with Tony a lot and he talks to Fury, but he's a big listener. He listens to what's going on around him probably in an effort to understand because so much goes past him. When he got a reference it was so cute how proud he was of himself. He felt like he was included, I think, because at last something didn't go over his head.
It was also a nice refresher on Steve's voice. He really doesn't swear does he? When Tony escaped he said "Son of a gun". Clint would've said "Son of a bitch". Any modern hero would've said "Son of a bitch" but Steve chose the old fashioned way. He's a lot more stoic and not much of a talker outside the battlefield. His humor is so dry, so spot on. He's pretty clever with a quip. It's not a blatantly insulting quip like Tony's are, but it can be. He also has the best straight face ever. It's dry, straight humor that is right there at the right time which I think is also because he's a listener.
Him and Tony. Ugh, so many feels there. They don't like each other at first because I think Steve saw a bully in Tony's immediate response to attack Thor. He didn't ask questions, he didn't ask what Thor wanted, he just punched him in the face. Steve hates bullies and leapt to a conclusion. And then he sees Tony save the heli-carrier, they work as a team, and most importantly he sees how Tony handles the loss of a soldier, someone respected and trusted and liked. Steve sees how he felt after Bucky in Tony and being that he's Steve gives him a second chance. He starts to see the man in Tony, not the suit of armor or the polish.
And then there's the fight scene where just as Steve's going to get overwhelmed, Tony sweeps in, they fight together like a well oiled machine and then Tony's gone again. He really started to respect and actually like Tony when he went to sacrifice himself for the greater good. He saw a guy throw himself on a grenade, something he didn't think Tony was capable of at the start of the film. He saw the hero as well as the man. He gets the whole picture and has to make that call of closing the portal. It was hard for him, but Steve will always choose to save people. It's what he does, what he stands for. Luckily, Tony made it out and Steve was right by his side when he woke up and all is well for me.
Thirdly: If Mark Ruffelo doesn't get his own Hulk movie I will be so disappointed in Marvel. That man was the best Bruce Banner I've seen. He was just smart, smart, smart. And he and Tony should be best lab buddies all the time.
Fourth: Clint and Natasha were fantastic. I want Clint and Natasha to have their own movie too. I must know more about their past together and Clint's past especially. Ugh, he was so fantastic. More Clint please, thank you.
Fifth: COULSON! Nooooooo! I admit, I teared up in the theater. He walked in there like a bad ass and paid for it, but in the end he was still a bad ass. He got those great lines in and he was Coulson, the man I totally love and adore and I want to be that cellist, damn it. I possibly have a lot of Coulson feels. I have a whole whale of them if I'm honest.
Sixth: People in the theater loved my boots. I was pleased.
Seventh: Now I'm going to bed and waiting for the next time I can see this movie.

The Tony feels were so good. I was amazed by how much meaning each thing he said had a lot of the time.
I cracked up all the time in the theater. He did call him Legolas and it was perfect.
*FLAIL!*

Date: 2012-05-04 02:55 pm (UTC)omg okay i will start from now on. idec. idek what i wanted to mention at the time but omg yes good very perfect.
I can't hold all my Tony feels. they ooze out and get everywhere. It's almost as bad as the never ending stream of Loki feels. fucking Loki feels oh my god. And also jdslkgh WHEN LOKI TAPS HIS CHEST WITH HIS GLOWSTICK OF DESTINY AND IT DOESN'T WORK. Can we please have something where he's in a dark place and he is drunk all "Loki proved that I don't have a heart" because reasons an dyes.
omg me too. It was so embarrassing because the first time I went it start at like 15 and so it was just me and school aged kids and I was cackling and no one else was. LIKE WHEN FURY MENTIONED FLYING MONKEYS AND THOR WAS ALL "WHAT >(" AND STEVE WAS SO SO SO EXCITED TO UNDERSTAND IT. ALL. "LOOK TONY LOOK I GOT A POP CULTURE REFERENCE LOOK TONY LOOK TONY TONY FLYING MONKEYS THE WIZARD OF OZ I'VE SEEN THAT TONY LOVE ME"
AAAAAAAH.

Date: 2012-05-04 03:02 pm (UTC)Oh man, the Loki feels. THE LOKI FEELS! I can never have enough Loki feels. I was not expecting that, seriously. I was like "Tony! No!" and then it was all okay and yet not okay because Tony does have a heart and yes, it's not right there at the front but it's there!
I had no shame. I cheered and laughed and I was by myself sitting next to strangers. No shame about it, none. High school boys never change. OMG HE WAS SO CUTE! He got something and was so proud of himself and ugh, ugh, Steeeeebe, stop it. You precious human being. He was trying hard for Tony's approval, which I suspect has something to do with Howard but what doesn't between the two of them? It was just so perfectly written those two.

STEEEEEEEBE.Ugh I know and at the same time I feel like Tony wants his approval too and ugh everything was so so good and i want to cry.

Date: 2012-05-04 03:14 pm (UTC)Yes, yes, we must have the angst of Tony feels.
No. You can't kill Phil Coulson. He's the only thing Chuck Norris fears. There's no killing him. It's all a trick by Fury to get the Avengers to man up. He's alive and going to be so pissed when he sees Fury got blood on his trading cards. And now they have each others approval and they fight awesome together and they're perfect. So perfect.
WHY MUST YOU GIVE ME ALL THESE HARD CHOICES?!?!

Date: 2012-05-04 03:17 pm (UTC)so many angsty tony feels oh go dTONY MY BABY.
I JUST WISH THIS COULD BE TRUE. OH GOD. I would scream with delight but this is Joss Whedon and he takes pleasure of kicking people int he feeling nuts. >(
IT'S HOW I ROLL. 8D

Date: 2012-05-04 03:20 pm (UTC)And while I love all the SteveTony feels I got I also really, really, really love Pepper Potts and think she is the most perfect girlfriend ever. Ever.
I will live in denial until Avengers 2 when I'm proven wrong. No one takes my Coulson from me. No one.
Uh, uh, something post movie? After Steve's epic roadtrip across America where I imagine he goes to Arlington and says his goodbyes and then rediscovers everything he loves about his country and its people.
HA HA HA! Yes, yes you can.

Date: 2012-05-04 03:24 pm (UTC)I hate Pepper. Honestly. I have since the first film. But that may be Gwenyth's fault, but I honestly just cannot stand her at all. I just delete her from my mind omg i'm sorry.
;~; I just don't know why they would do that the second time i saw it I still had so many feels and started crying when he was talking to Steeeeeb about the costume and the cards lkjglkhdg.
Yes. That could work. With a relationship already going, or like. Pre? IDEK. Tony would ttly fly out to him in a heartbeat if he wanted ugh ughugh.
Dying. ACTUALLY DYING OVER THAT.

Date: 2012-05-04 03:30 pm (UTC)Awwwww, that's okay. Not everyone can love every character.
Oh God, Coulson as a fanboy is the best thing ever and Steve is just Steve and totally accepting of his hero worship and he totally would've signed those cards and anything else Coulson asked and taken pictures with him and it'd be the best friendship ever.
*shrug* I'll play it either way. Oh, oh, I know! I know, Steve's bike breaks down somewhere in the middle of no where so he calls Tony for helps!
Aren't we all?

Date: 2012-05-04 03:36 pm (UTC)omg i know i almost cried at the way steve reacted to it. ESPECIALLY THE "I WATCHED YOU SLEEP 8)" but oh my god the way he was slightly confused but he wasn't going to say anything negative and I died and died. ;~:
Oh, that sounds good! I like that. Maaaaybe, From where we are now, where they're not really TOO involved yet, and then all this shit goes down (which it could, because it was just over two-three days) and then Steve needs to ~get out and goes across and then yes very good. Tony goes to save him? :'D

Date: 2012-05-04 03:38 pm (UTC)He's so kind, Steve is. It's the best thing ever when he's trying to be nice and yet feeling so awkward.
Yes, yes, all sounds good to me. If you set it up, I shall tag when I return from work or I can set up when I get back from work. Tony saving Steve is always fun.
